Clinical Details

Clinical and radiological findings:  18 yo female, falling from bike 9 days ago. Left elbow pain. Hematoma ulnar side with minor laxity. Pain on lateral side. Restricted mobility due to pain. Sprain of the MCL ligament. Minor laxity. Triceps difficult to test on active resisted extension test. But no pain or swelling at the back of the elbow

Preoperative Plan

Planning remarks:  Address lateral bony stability, then asses medial instability.

Surgical Discussion

Anatomical surgical approach:  Kaplan approach.

Operative remarks: 

Reduction. Cancellous graft. 2 oblique screws. Periosteum landmark for correct height. Periosteum repaired with 6.0 suture on the top of cancellous graft. Incomplete capitellum fracture. Only one screw enough. Surgeon credit: Dr Marwan Bouloudhnine of the UAE

Postoperative protocol:   Conservative treatment for MCL by elbow dynamic range brace

Orthopaedic implants used:   3 Medartis cannulated screws 2.0
