Clinical Details

Clinical and radiological findings:  66-year -old man with complaints of pain left thigh and inability to bear weight. He gave alleged history of road traffic accident – fell from two-wheeler and sustained isolated closed injury to his left hip. He had Left THR 3 years back, for nonunion of the neck of femur fracture. No comorbidities On clinical examination soft tissues were ok, No distal neurovascular deficit.

Preoperative Plan

Planning remarks:  To assess the stability of the prosthesis during surgery. If prosthesis is stable to proceed with ORIF , if prosthesis is not stable, to proceed with revision of the femoral stem.

Surgical Discussion

Patient positioning:  Lateral position

Anatomical surgical approach:  Lateral approach

Operative remarks: 

The femoral prosthesis was found to be stable and ORIF was done

Postoperative protocol:   Partial weight bearing walking with support

Orthopaedic implants used:   Depuy-Synthes
