Clinical and radiological findings: a 14-year-old boy complains of immediate pain in his left knee while playing soccer, there was no direct trauma, there was probably an eccentric contraction of the quadriceps while the knee was flexing there is no pathological history Physical exam: Shows knee effusion with tenderness at the tibial tubercle, cranialized patella and extensor deficiency AP and lateral X-rays of the knee showed a fracture of the tibial tubercle with intraarticular extension CT-scan was performed to evaluate the intraarticular component of the fracture. Indication for ORIF !
Planning remarks:
midline incision to the fracture site. Open reduction and internal fixation with 4.0 cancellous, partially threaded screws. joint surface was visualized to assure anatomic reduction an to rule out meniscal lesions to provide additional fixation suture material was passed in krackow fashion through the distal patellar tendon and was fixed in the metaphysis with suture anchors
Orthopaedic implants used: 3x 4.0 mm partially threaded cannulated screws. FiberWire and 2x Swivelock anchor
