Clinical Details

Clinical and radiological findings:  Compound fracture dislocation of left ankle

Preoperative Plan

Planning remarks:  Debridement, reduction and fixation of both malleoli

Surgical Discussion

Patient positioning:  Supine

Anatomical surgical approach:  Direct medial and lateral approach

Operative remarks: 

Washed in the operating room, ankle reduced, fractures approached thro standard lateral and medial approaches, provisionally fixed, satisfactory reduction, stabilised with plates and screws

Postoperative protocol:   Non weight bearing protected in a slab for 6 weeks
